Yip Richmond opens at 7:30 and Bushy at 8:00.
I think Richmond would be the better option as it opens earlier and that’s when you get mist and the deer are at there most active. personally Sunday will be better for me but could also go Saturday. Would suggest meeting at Richmond gate between 7:00 and 7:30 and we go from there.
If you have a bycicle it might be handy as we would cover move ground faster otherwise walking is the next best thing.

Hi all
The Deer rutting season trip was a success as the males are in full rut throughout the morning they where continuously calling and chasing after the females. :)
Holowlegs and I met up on Sunday morning at 7:30 and spent about 4 hours walking through the park. We found loads of deer and managed to get some good shots of them calling and a large male (apparently the 3rd biggest in the park) sunning himself.
Unfortunately we only saw one fight but where too far way to get any decent photos  but speaking to people at Richmond park they said the Stags have been sparing quite a bit.
I will be returning this coming weekend if there is anyone else interested in joining us.

Holowlegs hopefully you will be up for round 2.

I will be posting a few shots of what I got in the next couple of days.
Cheers
Paul

Hi Dawn
Will try and make it on Saturday but am defiantly going on Sunday, If I cant make it, I would recommend meeting at Richmond Gate and going from there as this was the side that most of the deer where located. We found them in the wood thickets in the early morning and then they seemed to move out into the open fields to sun themselves around 9:30. The easiest way to find them is to head in the direction of there calls. The stags are extremely vocal at this time of the year and are pretty easy to locate.
I will pm you my number and if you could do the same and If I can make it will contact you closer to the time.:)

Just for future reference, Chatsworth turned out to be a good place to see them.

I was there this weekend (24/10) and on Saturday morning whilst walking the dog in the park it was just like Autumn watch.

A large male was with about 25/30 females, and a younger male hovering about kept trying his luck to no avail. A larger male turned up and the two chased off the youngster before sizing each other up, a few brief exchanges occurred before the full blown action, they must have been at it a good 10 minutes, there was some superb action.

In the mean time the younger male sidled in and led the females away, you had to admire his bravery as once the winner looked round and realised he charged off down the park in pursuit.

All this happened about 20 metres away from me and a) I didn't have my camera at the time and b) when I did get some pics of them the following day I'd left my 100-400 at home and so they're specs in the distance.
